Things are heating up in Basketball. We have been playing well & last night was no exception. Last night we played Salem Academy in what was an incredible game. It ended up going to overtime & us hitting a shot at the buzzer to win it! Here's the breakdown from the www.oregonHHSN.com:
All I can say is WOW!!! What an incredible game! We figured it would be a barn-burner - and it was indeed.
Both teams came to play. Both teams played with incredible heart. Both teams left it all on the court. It was absolutely awesome high school basketball.
Lewis Menges led the Pioneers with 7 points in the first quarter, with Taylor Branch adding 5 points. Nick Souza had 4 points and Calvin Molan had 5 to lead the Crusaders. Daniel Martin was quiet in the first quarter, and sat down with :44 with his 2nd foul. 1st quarter score - WM 14 - 10.
2nd quarter WM came out hard continuing to play well, with Pierre Zook scoring 6 points to lead the Pioneers, outscoring SAC 10-7 to go up 24-17 at halftime. Zook sat down with his 3rd foul with 1:45 left in the quarter.
Third quarter saw the crusaders come storming back, led by Calvin Molan with 9 points in the quarter. WM was up 36 - 33 very late in the quarter, but Daniel Martin fouled Molan with 0.5 seconds on a half-court desperation shot, sending Molan to the free throw line where he hit all 3 to tie up the ball game.
In the final quarter, Salem Academy came out and took the lead, playing well and hitting their shots. They went up by as many as 5, but the Pioneers would not go away. Geoffrey Martin hit some bigs shots for the Pioneers, including 4-4 from the free throw line, and had 9 on the quarter. Nick Souza led the Crusaders with 6 in the quarter. WM had the ball with the ball tied at 54 with :45 seconds and held it for the final shot ... but Zook's shot was blocked by Michale May to send it into overtime.
Overtime was incredible, with SAC going up, then WM tied it, then Zook hit a 3 pointer for the Pioneers to go up 59-56. SAC fouls Zook, he missed the front end of a 1-on-one - and SAC scored on the other end to bring it within one. Zook gets fouled again, and again misses the front end of the one-on-one. Calvin Molan goes in and forces a shot in the lane - missed the shot but got fouled with 6.2 seconds. Molan makes both free throws to put SAC up by 1 60-59. WM inbounds and gets it to the half-court at 3.2 seconds and calls a timeout. On the inbound, G. Martin finds Daniel Martin and he scores the game winner with about 1 second left and it was over.
Like I said, an incredible game!! It truly was the most exciting game I have watched all year.
Congratulations to both teams for such an incredible game. My hats off to coach Potloff and the Salem Academy players - I know it is very difficult to lose a close game like that when you play your hearts out.
Congrats to WM for the win and for playing your hearts out as well.

What a great game! That is why I coach! There is nothing better then the dog pile the ensued after we won!
On another note, church has been going amazing! We spent last weekend up at Tilikum with our pastors & youth staff. It was an awesome time of getting in the word & praying for each other as well as planning out our mission & focus for the youth. It was an awesome time which led into Sunday where I led worship. God has been speaking & moving in our church so greatly & we are all so excited as leaders to see where it will go! It's going to be an exciting year...
Work has been going well. I'm looking to land a few clients this week. Just a little plug, I'm working for myself now. I'm marketing for 4 other web design companies with each offering something different. Websites through me now start as low as $200 for basic & goes up to full custom websites. I'm excited what God is going to do through this business opportunity now. If you know of anyone who needs a website, send them my way! I can use all the business I can get & trust me, if you know someone in business, chances are they need to speak with me! =) At this point in the world, if you don't have a website, your way behind the trend & your business is probably suffering.
Today is a pretty relaxing day. We are taking the day off of basketball to give the guys a rest, so Sara & I are having dinner with Justin & Melissa. I'm looking forward to a night that is going to be low key! Sara & I love basketball season, but by the end we are a little tired. =)
